History & Overview

Once a working stableyard located at Church Farm on the Fring Estate in Norfolk, the newly restored and thoughtfully renovated stables are now a far cry from their original purpose of housing shire horses, ponies and coaches. Yet, as with all our holiday cottages here at Fring Estate, bringing these dilapidated yet once important buildings back to life whilst respecting their historic significance was at the heart of this new development.

The Stableyard comprises five stylish holiday residences arranged around a private courtyard. When booked together as a group (sleeping up to 24 guests), guests enjoy exclusive access to The Granary, a beautiful private dining and event space. Originally used as a grain store until the 1980s, The Granary is now an airy and stylish space designed to bring groups together for meals, celebrations, meetings, and entertainment.

Exposed flint and brick walls, rustic wooden beams stretched across vaulted ceilings and unique character features have been retained to showcase the beauty of the buildings, whilst adding the modern touches needed for contemporary group living.

Steeped in history, this unique Norfolk holiday destination has been specifically designed for large groups who want to celebrate together while maintaining individual privacy and comfort.

During the summer months (from May to September), guests can also enjoy the shared outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis court, located just a short walk from The Stableyard.

Things To Do In North Norfolk

Famed for big skies and vast beaches, Norfolk has become an extremely popular holiday destination in England. Visit Norfolk and you will discover quaint market towns, such as Burnham Market and Holt, scattered throughout scenic countryside.

Enjoy fish and chips on the sea wall at Wells-Next-The-Sea and spot seals at Brancaster Beach. Ideal for families, Norfolk offers attractions such as fun fairs, dinosaur parks and crabbing at the beach.

After a day out exploring, we recommend hunkering down at a local pub and with plenty of gastropubs and restaurants to choose from you can certainly expect to enjoy some delicious food on the North Norfolk coast.

Where Is The Best Beach In North Norfolk?

The Norfolk coastline boasts some of the UK's best beaches. With wide stretches of golden sand, calm seas and big skies, there's a reason why Norfolk is a popular holiday destination for beach lovers. Our favourite Norfolk beaches include Brancaster beach, where dogs are allowed and you can often spot seals basking in the sun.

Holkham beach is one of the UK's best unspoilt stretches of sand, with sand dunes and pinewoods to explore - however, dogs are not allowed during certain times of the year.

A favourite amongst locals is Holme Dunes, a quieter beach set behind a scenic golf course, Holme is perfect if you're looking to escape the crowds. If you want to travel further afield then Sheringham beach and Horsey beach are both popular spots in Norfolk.

The Workshop and the Rural Fund

The former farm workshop has been transformed into a stunning new commercial space, set to open its doors in 2025. This exciting development breathes new life into a once-utilitarian structure, showcasing the potential for adaptive reuse and sustainable development. This Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Rural Business Capital project is part-funded by the UK Government through the Rural England Prosperity Fund, was supported by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk and delivered in Partnership with Norfolk County Council.

The Rural Fund funds capital projects for small businesses and community infrastructure. This will help to improve productivity and strengthen the rural economy and rural communities. Click here for more information.
