ANGLIA WOODFUELS ARE THE WOODCHIP SPECIALISTS
IN PRECISION DRIED CHIP
We pride ourselves in producing the highest quality precision dried woodchip from sustainable timber, allowing maximum fuel efficiency in a form that is least detrimental to boilers & CHP gasifiers.
We believe in the sustainable management of the woodland environment, using the thinnings and offcuts produced following active management to provide renewable energy to individuals and organisations across East Anglia. Anglia Woodfuels also offer screened woodchip, roundwood for sale, as well as chipping arrangements if required. We offer free comprehensive advice to all customers on everything from boilers, CHP gasifiers and installers to woodfuel and storage facilities.

WOODCHIP
Anglia Woodfuels specialise in the production of high-grade woodchip and we pride ourselves in producing a consistent quality product to a number of sites and customers around East Anglia.

ROUNDWOOD SALES
We sell fresh felled softwood, moisture content 45-50% delivered in 25 tonne lorry loads.
The majority of this roundwood is pine and payment terms are 30 days from delivery. Please use the contact us page for sales enquiries.

TIMBER BUYING
Anglia Woodfuels are also interested in purchasing timber from sustainably managed woodlands. We buy fresh felled roundwood at rideside, the majority of which being softwood species.
Payment can be made on inspection and is done on a volume basis. Collection can be made immediately if required.

CHIPPING
Chipping can be arranged via a contractor at up to 300 tonnes in a 10 hour day and can be chipped to various specifications to suit the needs of the customer.
We are also looking for opportunities to establish further depots in East Anglia for storage of roundwood and woodchips chipped on site and welcome any proposals.

DELIVERY
Anglia Woodfuels deliver to customers around East Anglia on a daily basis, fulfilling weekly and annual contracts as well as one off sales.

VOLUMES & WEIGHTS
Our woodchip can be bought by volume (m3) or by weight (tonnes). Dependent on chip size, weight/volume will vary and we offer consultation on which chip would be best suited to your boiler needs.
WOODCHIP SPECIFICATIONS
Woodfuel
The opening of a market for chipped timber has allowed the offcuts and thinnings from sustainable woodland management to be marketed as a renewable energy source that can provide heating for domestic and commercial buildings as well as power stations. This is going some way to relieving our reliance on fossil fuels.
The key drivers of the market that we see are that the chips are renewable, emit less carbon than fossil fuel, and at 3p per kilowatt hour are half the price of heating oil and a fifth of the price of electricity. Plus the product is locally produced leaving a low carbon footprint.
Nearly any species of softwood and poplar can be used to produce woodchips though it will inevitably be mainly pine from the East of England. Hardwood is normally too valuable as firewood. The material comes from low-grade softwood and every time a tree is cut down about 20% of the volume is of this quality.
Distance is important because of the cost of transport, and a maximum of 80 miles would be the limit for chips because of its bulk and light weight. If timber is bought in the round it can be transported further to be chipped on site.

Quality Assurance
The drying time in the round is normally about 12 months before chipping, but it can take longer depending on the diameter. This period gets moisture content down to around 30%. We try to chip in the summer months when the surface moisture is at its lowest. We chip directly into our storage facility where we retain a constant supply of woodchip for any unexpected surges in demand; each tonne of roundwood will produce about 4m3 of chips.
The chips in a heap heat up almost immediately and within a few days can reach a temperature of up to 50 degrees C due to bacterial activity. However, the heat itself starts to kill off the bacteria and within a couple of months the chips cool down. The heating drives off further moisture and the end result is chips which are very dry at under 25% MC.
We offer two sizes of Chip, G30 & G50 both at a moisture content of 25%.
